This is a class that will give children ages 4-6 an appreciation for music and build confidence through singing. The Kodaly-inspired lessons will teach children basic music concepts, introduce foreign languages & cultures, and give students the opportunity to perform. The class will culminate in a show for friends and family, giving the students that opportunity to show off what they have learned through group and solo performances.

Ella (Yenlik) Bodaubay Weiss and Szilvia Schranz.  They are also both accepting private students.  Please read about their background below.

Ella is a dedicated chamber musician and orchestra performer.  In addition to maintaining contracts with the Boulder Philharmonic, Redlands Symphony, and San Bernardino Symphony Orchestras, she has performed with the Santa Barbara Symphony Orchestra and Santa Barbara Opera, Pasadena Symphony Orchestra, Pasadena Pops, Riverside Symphony Orchestra, Long Beach Symphony Orchestra, Fresno Philharmonic, Marina del Rey Symphony, Colorado Music Festival, Aspen Choral Society, and served as an Associate Concertmaster of the Colorado Mahler Festival and Boulder Chamber Orchestra.  She has been a featured soloist for the Steamboat Springs Chamber Orchestra, Aurora Symphony, on Colorado Public Radio, and performed numerous chamber solos in the U.S., Europe, and Asian.  Originally from Kazakhstan, Ella completed her Masters in Violin Performance in Cleveland and received her Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder.  As a freelance musician in Los Angeles, she performed with Sir Elton John, Sarah McLachlan, and Earth Wind & Fire among other contemporary performers, and performed at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
 
Dr. Weiss is a passionate teacher dedicated to helping her students succeed and achieve their best.  In Los Angeles, she taught violin classes and orchestra at Education Through Music—Los Angeles, the Renaissance Arts Academy, an award winning public charter for the performing arts, California College of Music and La Canada Music Studio.  Her students performed at Universal Studios, at the Music Unites Festival under composer Christophe Beck (The Muppets and Frozen), the Walt Disney Concert Hall, won the Fidelity Future State Competition and featured at the Hollywood Bowl Opening Gala in 2010.  Before her recent seven years in LA, she was on the faculty of the Boulder Arts Academy, and taught at Golden Music, private lessons and directed Golden Music’s orchestras.  Her students have entered the Denver School for the Performing Arts, auditions with All State Symphony Orchestra, and Colorado Honor Orchestras and Denver Performing Center for the Arts.

Musical Theater Builders, Lead Teacher; Boulder, CO) Hungarian-born sopranoSzilvia Schranz's voice has been called "breathtakingly perfect" and "expressive and pure". Her passion for oratorio and orchestral repertoire as well as art song has taken her throughout the US and Europe, performing significant works such as Bach’s oratorios, Haydn’s Creation, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony,  Mozart’s Requiem, Mahler’s 8th Symphony among many others at such venues as London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, St. Martin-in-the-Fields and New York’s Avery Fisher Hall. Szilvia has worked with such renowned ensembles as the Takacs String Quartet, Boulder Chamber Orchestra, Columbine String Quartet and Mahler Festival Orchestra and such renowned musicians as Annamaria Karacson, Tamara Goldstein, Larry Graham, John Lidal, Vanessa Perez, Suzanne Farrin and Sebastian Zubieta among many others. She has toured with the American Virtuosi performing works of Bach combined with photography of Pulitzer Prize nominated conflict photographer, Chris Hondros. She performed Britten’s Les Illuminations in Budapest under the baton of Gabor Takacs-Nagy with the MAV Symphony Orchestra which was broadcast over Hungarian National Radio. She has recorded Su Lian Tan’s River of the Trunk for Arsis Recording with Margo Garrett and others.

Szilvia has been teaching Choir and Solo Performance Class at The School at Columbia University for 10 years. She also runs a private singing/piano studio in Manhattan, all while pursuing her own singing career and continuing her studies with Irene Gubrud.
