Music Educates Helps Start a Band in a Rural Colorado area - Agate School

SEPTEMBER 18, 2025:  This Fall, Music Educates, supported by Golden Music, started a band program at Agate School.  This one building, K-12 school has no music program at all.  Music Educates hired a teacher, Hudson Adams, to guide them every step of the way.

The Agate School describes themselves as small with BIG OPPORTUNITY right in the heart of Elbert County-Home of the LONGHORNS!

Hudson Adams is a professional trumpet player, audio engineer, arranger, composer, and teacher all the way from Anchorage, Alaska. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in May of 2023 with a bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies and moved to Denver soon after  He will lead the group on their musical journey, guiding Agate students through the exciting world of wind instruments. Get ready to unleash your musical talents and dive into the world of music.  Their first challenge will be playing pep band music for Agate's basketball team this Fall.

Hudson is beginning with teaching the proper techniques to reading sheet music, you will be equipped with all the tools you need to succeed. But that's not all - you will also discover the thrill of performing and the power of teamwork when playing in an ensemble.

The Principal Melinda Walls is planning to play in the band, with cheers from all the students.  She will pick up the baritone from her student years, brush up on fingering and join in the Agate Band Students!

Joining the band at Agate School is not just about learning to play an instrument - it's about pushing yourself to new heights, exploring your creativity, and embracing the thrill of making music with others.   Golden Music has donated instruments for the program which Music Educates is providing at low cost.
