Takanori "Tak" Sugishita - Violin / Viola
Takanori Sugishita (“Tak”), born in Matsumoto, Japan, began studying violin at the age of three with Yuko Mori, and later took lessons with the late Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, founder of the worldwide music education movement known as the Suzuki Method. By age ten he was making solo appearances with Suzuki Children tours in Beijing, Shanghai and Calgary. In high school, Tak studied at the Interlochen Arts Academy where he graduated with distinction. He continued his violin studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, and then went on to receive his M.M. from the Eastman School of Music.
As a chamber musician he received coaching from the Cavani, Cleveland, Manhattan, Mendelssohn, Takacs, Vermeer and Ying String Quartets. With the Aerith Quartet, which he co-founded, Tak performed throughout the United States and Asia. He has been a principal in the Boulder Philharmonic, Longmont Symphony, Central City Opera and Opera Colorado Orchestras. He also regularly performs with the Colorado Symphony and Colorado Ballet Orchestras.
Tak has been teaching privately for over 18 years, and has taught at schools such as Boulder Arts Academy, Shedd Institute in Eugene and the Flatirons Strings Academy. He has been teaching at Golden Music for over 5 years.
